Termites Still Active in Winter Months

Termite Infestation

Are termites at work in your home?

Last week we experienced a number of active termite calls on par with the summer months. We saw moderate to severe damage and evidence of the preparations termites make for the “swarm season” which is the reproductive season for the Eastern Subterranean Termite.

Eastern Subterranean Termites

The Eastern Subterranean Termite is the most common termite found in North America – particularly in our area, Georgia and Alabama.  These termites feed on cellulose material which can be found in the structural wood in buildings, wooden fixtures, books, paper, and cotton.  A colony of termites in your home or business is cause for worry.  A mature colony of termites can range from 20,000 — 5 million workers.  The queen of the colony continues to lay 5,000 – 10,000 eggs per year.

Termites are responsible for billions of dollars in damage annually. Because termites never sleep and their colonies hold thousands to millions of workers, it is vital to have termite inspections for your home and businesses.  Having a termite colony elimination system, like the Sentricon system, is one of the smartest investments you could make for yourself.  Termites can destroy your home before you even realize that they have shown up.  Think about the amount of damage that 5 million, never sleeping termites could do to your home in just a few months.  They work around the clock, or should we say, eat around the clock?

Fighting a termite infestation is for the professionals.  You won’t be able to find the supplies to kick out a Subterranean Termite Colony at your local grocer.  It takes a trained, experienced professional to accurately and efficiently eliminate a termite colony.  Are you not sure if you could have an infestation or not? Call a pest control professional to inspect your home. The most efficient way to determine whether you have a termite infestation or not, is to call a licensed and experienced professional to inspect your home or business.  They will have been extensively trained on where to find termites and what to look for.  This will save you much time and will also protect you in costly damage in the case you were to look over the signs of a termite infestation.

If you haven’t had your business or home inspected this year, we can schedule an appointment to inspect your home or business and discuss installing the Sentricon Termite Colony Elimination System to protect your facility.
